Join the Design Museum of Chicago and Proof Studios at Fourtunehouse Art Center for City Script: A Street Art Workshop & Film Screening.
Presented as part of the Design Museum’s exhibition, Letters Beyond Form: Chicago Types, this event connects local creative spaces to the larger conversation about lettering and public art by inviting participants to explore the styles and techniques of street lettering while contributing to a collaborative community wall.
Artist Daniel Ponce teaches participants about street art culture and offers time to create together in an open, welcoming environment. Offerings include Freestyling (using markers to add unique words, designs, or tags to the wall), Wheat-Pasting (customizing pre-made posters with street art-style lettering and pasting them onto the board), and Stickering (choosing from pre-made stickers with bold phrases to add to the community piece).
A film offering a look into the history, culture, and impact of street art is screened throughout the event. Light refreshments will be served.
