Drop by the Smart Museum of Art for a joyful journey of “clayful” activity led by guest artist Janiece Maddox.
During this monthly Family Day, create clay slabs, make tile relief sculptures, and collaborate at our one-of-a-kind clay-play table. Led by guest artist Janiece Maddox, the afternoon art activities are inspired by works on display in Ruth Duckworth: Life as a Unity.
FREE, drop-in. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
About the guest artist: Janiece Maddox (b. 1998, Davenport, IA) is an interdisciplinary ceramic artist who earned her BFA in ceramics from the University of Iowa in 2022.
