Join the Hyde Park Art Center for a live concert as part of the Hyde Park Jazz Festival featuring Inaugural Chicago Poet Laureate avery r. young and his band, de deacon board. This concert honors the 100th anniversary of the birth of author James Baldwin, who was deeply connected to jazz and Black music. The performance is presented in conjunction with Hyde Park Art Center’s exhibition of the work of Robert Earl Paige, for whom improvisation and rhythm are essential to process and composition.
