Tune in to Lumpen Radio 105.5 FM for Sala: A Living Room of Ideas, a live radio broadcast presented by Silvia Inés Gonzalez, the administrator of POCAS (People of Color Artist Space). The program features guests Crystle Dino of FMA (Freedom Movement Alignment) and Peregrine Bermas of Dirt and Free World in conversation about connections to the land, our bodies, and liberation. What happens when we tap into our bodies as we experience cycles of grief, survival, reflection, resistance,  joy, and all the complexities in between? What can the body and the land teach us about interconnected systems, awareness, and support? How do we practice the deep listening required to embody individual and collective healing?

Crystle Dino is a Pinay Chicago native guided by her passions for the visual, performance, and healing arts rooted in community and her cultural upbringing. She practices as a folk art therapist, performance and visual artist, mover and dancer, cultural worker, and youth development worker. She embodies her freedom by training in Filipino martial arts and dance utilizing the concepts of Chicago House culture of freedom, love, and empowerment. The Babaylan consciousness is a foundation and impetus for her practices.

Peregrine is a creative and curious earthling born and grown in Chicago. Their practice, Dirt & Free Herbal Arts, is a prayer to the land by way of deep listening. As a community herbalist and educator, Peregrine is passionate about sharing local and kitchen-accessible and plant medicine, and uplifting Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit Indigenous and Melanated soil stewards and wisdom teachers.

Sala is an ongoing talk series anchoring the stories of artists in Chicago through topics such as grief, labor, immigration, and movement building. The multimedia project, now in its second season, includes radio interviews, public programming, and an archival self-published zine. It is supported by Hyde Park Art Center’s Artists Run Chicago Fund as part of Art Design Chicago.
