Chicago Designs: New Approaches to Teaching Social History and Design Teaching Resources

Chicago Designs: Teaching Community-Based Histories was a workshop for college-level educators to work with local design collections that reflect diverse communities and social movements in Chicago. Fifteen participants were accepted by an open application call for a five day in-person visit to museums, archives, and community sites led by design history experts with guest lecturers in June 2024. After the workshop, participants developed teaching resources informed by the experience.

"Chicago Designs: Teaching Community-Based Histories" was a June 2024 workshop where 15 college educators explored Chicago's diverse design collections through site visits and expert-led sessions, creating teaching resources based on their experience.
