The Art of Memory: Everyday Life During the Pandemic

November 7, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

A print in grey, black, red, and brown that says "Economy 2020."
Artwork by David Bernie.

How did artists respond to the sudden and drastic changes in everyday life precipitated by COVID-19 in the early weeks and months of the pandemic? Join artists David Bernie, Dutes Miller, and Stan Shellabarger, as they explore in retrospect the ways they adapted their lives and work in response to the isolation and shifts in daily routine brought about in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The discussion features illustrations from a range of prints, posters, and artists’ books recently acquired by the Newberry that were created by artists during that time.

This program is held in-person at the Newberry and livestreamed on Zoom. The online version of the event is live captioned. Please register.
